Reinier de Graaf Gasthuis Delft
Every hospital needs a place where people can take a little time out for themselves; a spot where patients, visitors and staff can relax. Ideally, it would be a place where you could experience regional influences and enjoy fresh, fair and sustainable local produce. And that’s absolutely the case at Kannen en Kruiken, located in the Reinier de Graaf Gasthuis in Delft.
As a hospital, the Reinier de Graaf Gasthuis aims to connect as strongly as possible with its surroundings, the local population, and all the hospital users. From a hospitality point of view, this means creating a space with a genuine ‘home away from home’ feeling, where people can meet, relax and distract themselves from any troubles. Kannen en Kruiken provides the perfect solution.
The name ‘Kannen en Kruiken’ is reflected everywhere in the restaurant in all kinds of ways. First of all, it refers to ‘The Milkmaid’ painting by Johannes Vermeer, Delft’s most famous resident. Secondly, Kannen en Kruiken symbolises the special regional products and ingredients unique to Delft. In the past, pitchers – kruiken in Dutch – were used to store treats, which were then shared out, bringing people together. Following this tradition, Kannen en Kruiken brings the flavours and people of Delft together. Last but not least, Kannen en Kruiken offers table service, which is unique in Dutch hospital restaurants. This personal service makes Kannen en Kruiken a very pleasant place to enjoy lunch or dinner.
Vermaat’s connection with the hospital’s visitors, patients and staff naturally goes much further than just the restaurant. The Kannen en Kruiken hospitality team can be found throughout the hospital, providing everything from meeting services to large banquet events, from first-line coffee machine services to the espresso bar, and from the shop to the serviced restaurant at the main entrance. Our hospitality concept is the theme that unites all of our services and is reflected throughout, along with the philosophy of connecting to Delft.
